WHAT IS TELEUPHORIA MEDIA NETWORK?

TeleUphoria is a production and broadcasting company created by video and performance artist Sophia Gordon. We specialize in public access television and video in niche genres.

We see a void both in the visual art world and the film industry. There are not nearly enough outlets for progressive video work especially if it falls under the subset of “video art”. Many galleries, festivals, museums, grants, and open calls simply don’t know what to do with it (if they accept it at all). Because of this, far too many important stories go untold or unseen. TeleUphoria is stepping up to do its part in changing this. Diverse open calls, instructional resources, and an inclusive environment are only a handful of ways in which TeleUphoria will question film industry standards and dismantle detrimental principles of the art world.

We are an organization that seeks to create a safe space for artists of all experience levels. Our love of DIY, teaching, and crafty troubleshooting are key factors in the way we operate. Most importantly, we are dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized artists and creating better opportunities for video makers.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MILLER’S GROVE PUBLIC ACCESS?

MGPA’s partnership with TeleUphoria Media Network will not affect how the station operates nor it’s programming. Miller’s Grove Public Access will still be your source for thought provoking video art and topics surrounding mental health. However, Miller’s Grove Public Access will have an official hub for all of their content and easy navigation to all of their resources. The station is also partnering with TeleUphoria’s Video For All project in an effort to bring you even more instructional content. Our goal is to strengthen the community MGPA has already built, not to change their agenda. With an eye towards the future of broadcasting, TeleUphoria Media Network is the perfect fit for Miller’s Grove Public Access and all our channels to come! We look forward to serving our viewers and curating the work of our fellow artists!

OUR PROMISE TO ARTISTS AND OUR VIEWERS:

Along with bringing you progressive and innovative content, we are working to eliminate gatekeeper culture and the “pro gear, pro attitude” hive mind mentality. We aim to make the video making process accessible to everyone regardless of experience level, monetary means, or equipment. That’s why we’re also launching Video For All!

Though we are in the first phase of developing this instructional resource, we will have a list of tips and links up on the site shortly. TeleUphoria promotes creative problem solving and positive re-enforcement. There is no shame in creating with what you have. All are valid!

WHAT ELSE CAN I EXPECT FROM TELEUPHORIA MEDIA NETWORK?

TeleUphoria is dedicated to video of all kinds. We strive to bring art to everyone and are always experimenting with new ways we can exhibit work. TeleUphoria and all of our affiliates support taking art out of the gallery and into the community! When it becomes safe to gather, TeleUphoria will begin hosting exhibitions at flea markets, community centers, house shows, and more!

Our other future plans consist of instructional videos, short film production, and distribution. Keep your eyes peeled in Spring 2021 for a new series courtesy of Video For All, which will bring you all you need to know in a DIY and lo-fi friendly environment.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED WITH TELEUPHORIA MEDIA NETWORK?

Throughout the year, TeleUphoria runs Open Calls for all our channels. We accept video art, short form television shows, television series, and short films. Deadlines and guidelines can be found on our separate channel pages.

While we are not currently hiring, we will be offering screener opportunities for our forthcoming channel (to be announced Fall 2020). Be on the lookout for our official announcement and the link to apply.
